Apple Wallet

iOS

Apple Wallet has been offering Apple users a convenient way to use customer cards, coupons, tickets, boarding passes or other cards for years. Since iOS 6 (release 2012 as Passbook) Apple Wallet is shipped pre-installed on all iOS devices. Due to this and the fact that iOS has a high market share, Apple Wallet quickly gained more and more relevance. The advantage of the Mobile Wallet becomes apparent when using it: Instead of carrying all tickets or cards around in paper or plastic form, they are stored centrally in the Apple Wallet on your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Apple Watch. The passes can be called up at any time, as they are available in digital form offline directly on the device. Apple Pay has been available in Germany since 2018 and is receiving increasing support from banks and credit card providers. This enables cashless payment directly via the iPhone or Apple Watch with Apple Wallet.

Boarding Pass

A boarding pass is proof for the airline to determine whether a passenger is eligible for a particular flight. A boarding pass contains information about the passenger and the flight itself, such as the flight number, gate, departure and destination airports, and seat number. This information is necessary to find your way around the airport and board the correct flight. Boarding passes can be presented either printed on paper, or in digital form on a smartphone. Before boarding the aircraft, the boarding pass is scanned by the staff. In this way, together with an ID card or passport, the passenger can be identified. A passenger receives the boarding pass after check-in. If check-in is carried out on site at the airport, a paper boarding pass is usually displayed. When checking in online with a PC or smartphone, many airlines allow a mobile ticket. For connecting flights, the boarding pass for the second flight is issued at the first check-in. This is particularly relevant for short connecting times.
